  • Crop Scout Summer 2025 Intern- Vision Crop Consulting New Hampton - IA (United States)

    Job Description:

    Gain critical agronomic experience by scouting fields within Chickasaw, Howard, and Winneshiek counties to identify and monitor weed, insect, and disease problems. Pickups, four wheelers/dronessupplied.Use drone technology to take early season stand counts and assess later season field health withplant health images.Sort and possibly deliver seed to customers.Observe integrated pest management techniques.Learn about biological products and how they benefit crop production.Observe chemical distribution to customersParticipate in seed variety analysis studies in our plot throughout the growing season.

    Objective:

    Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is committed to carrying out the mission of Iowa State University by providing research-based educational opportunities to all Iowans. 

    The Summer Educators will work in collaboration with ISU Extension and Outreach Youth Development staff members in Lyon, Osceola, Sioux, O’Brien, Cherokee and Plymouth counties to deliver research-based youth programs as educational in-person day camps.

    Performs developmental assignments of limited complexity that involve field examinations of soils by soil boring with an auger.

    Works with a higher graded employee to make a determination of soil type and determine the amount of topsoil remaining. The trainee examines soil borings, then compares soil samples with descriptions and legends to tentatively classify soil type.

    Assists the MLRA Soil Survey Leader or designated employee in tabulating soil survey data. Assists in the maintenance of soil survey progress maps which indicate, by county, the location of areas mapped and the progress of soil surveys completed.

    The Cropping Systems Team within Seed Product Development is seeking a Field Research Intern at our research center in Johnston, IA. In this role, you will have the opportunity to conduct research on a perennial cover crop system. The position will primarily work on research for FABPGCs (Feedstocks for Advanced Biofuels from Perennial Ground Covers), a project supported by the Department of Energy that aims to build carbon positive fuel sources from crop residues. You will interact with farmer customers and university collaborators working together to optimize agronomic practices and understand the greenhouse gas footprint of a system that targets high grain and stover yields while preserving soil, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and protecting water.

    ISO female caregiver for around 2 hours on Monday Wednesday and/or Friday from 8am-10am to assist 47 year old quadriplegic female with morning routine to get ready for work. No experience necessary, must have patience, be reliable, and willingness to learn. I currently have one caregiver so this could be for back up or we can discuss shifts that work for each of you. She’s willing to discuss the job with you if that makes you feel more comfortable. Ideally I need someone that will be around during holidays and school breaks, but can be flexible. There is a bus stop right by my house so that is an option if you don’t drive. This can be ongoing each semester if you are going to be in Ames for a few years. Thanks

    The primary task of the conservation programs intern is to write grant proposals to fund land protection. They may also write posts for the INHF blog, visit INHF properties, and provide other general program support. In addition to these duties, we encourage candidates to create a personal project they can share with staff at the end of their internship.   • Central Iowa Land Stewardship Internship- Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation Elkhart - IA (United States)

    Job Description

    INHF central Iowa land stewardship interns work hard to maintain and restore native Iowa landscapes for 12 weeks each summer. Interns help manage more than 20 different sites throughout the state, camping occasionally in state/county parks and public natural areas. These interns conduct land management and restoration on prairies, wetlands, woodlands and savannas on natural areas owned or protected by INHF. Interns will also assist with equipment maintenance when necessary (training provided). 

  • Loess Hills Land Stewardship Internship- Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation Pisgah - IA (United States)

    Loess Hills land stewardship interns work hard to maintain and restore native landscapes in western Iowa. Interns will conduct needed land management and restoration on remnant and reconstructed prairies, woodlands, oak savannas and other natural areas owned or protected by INHF. Interns will use a variety of hand tools and chainsaws to help accomplish restoration goals.

    Students selected for INHF’s Loess Hills internship will learn from and work closely with private landowners, Iowa conservation organizations and other conservation professionals. Educational opportunities beyond day-to-day experiences will be provided, including participation in regional natural resources conferences. 

  • Eastern Iowa Land Stewardship Internship- Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation Iowa City - IA (United States)

  • 2025 Buck Institute Summer Internship- Buck Institute for Research on Aging Novato - CA (United States)

    The Buck Summer Scholars Program offers undergraduate students the opportunity to investigate insights into the critical molecular and biological drivers of aging as well as translation of that research into new therapies which will improve healthspan. Summer Scholar participants will conduct biomedical research to combat diseases of aging, such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, cancer, macular degeneration, heart disease, and diabetes. Under the guidance of a scientific mentor, each Summer Scholar will be responsible for their own mentored research project. The Program emphasizes both laboratory and communication skills training to develop well-rounded future scientists, healthcare professionals, and policy makers.
